Florida Keys Guitar Festival

June 4, July 2, August 5-7, 2016

This summer the Florida Keys Guitar Festival will feature legendary virtuosos in seven concerts.

INTERNET SALES HAVE ENDED FOR THIS EVENT, TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR OF THE VENUE, The Gardens Hotel
The festival stars internationally acclaimed classical guitarists Mateo and Steve Ramos plus jazz greats Bob Hanni, Larry Baeder, Michael Gillis and Mike Emerson. These amazing guitarists will be playing solos, duets, trios and a Guitar Summit with all six performing together in Key West.

The festival showcases just guitarists only in concert. No drums or bass. Just pure guitar virtuoso playing. These great performances will take place on June 4 and 5 in Marathon, July 2 in Key Largo and a three day festival of concerts in Key West August 5-7.

The concerts begin on Saturday, June 4 in Marathon at the Florida Keys Country Club with classical guitarist Mateo.  Described by the Miami Herald as a “World Class Guitarist”, he is also a prolific composer of melodic classical guitar music.  He will be performing classical guitar highlights and his original works in a memorable evening concert at 8 pm.  On Sunday, June 5, he will perform a free 3pm matinee Concert for Children at the Marathon Community Park Amphitheater.  Mateo was the  Florida Artist-in-Residence and performed children's concerts in the Keys.

The next stop on this musical tour throughout the island chain is Key Largo. On Saturday July 2, Mateo will perform a concert of romantic Spanish guitar music at the Nelson Government Cultural Center at 8 pm.   A maestro of the Spanish guitar, his soulful performance captures the beautiful musical heritage of Spain.

The Key West festival presents four concerts starting on August 5.  Held in the intimate Little Room Jazz Club on Duval Street will be three jazz guitar masters performing together at 8 pm.  Larry Baeder, Michael Gillis and Mike Emerson will astound the audience with their trios, duos and solos.  A jazz guitarists dream concert not to be missed.

On August 6 will be a matinee performance of classical guitar by Mateo in the beautiful Old Stone Church. He will perform selections of his melodic masterpieces at 3 pm.  Parents are encouraged to bring their children to experience this special guitar concert.  Admission to the matinee performance is a donation suggested event.

Later that evening at 10 pm will be a fantastic concert at the Little Room Jazz Club featuring legendary jazz guitarist Bob Hanni and the great classical guitarist Steve Ramos. These guitar masters will show what superb playing is all about.  Jazz and classical guitar music at its best by two of the most famous guitarists in South Florida.

The final concert of the festival is the Guitar Summit featuring all six guitarists at the Gardens Hotel at 6:30 pm.  Mateo, Steve Ramos, Bob Hanni, Larry Baeder, Mike Emerson and Michael Gillis will be performing together.  This performance is going to be a memorable event held in the most beautiful and lush tropical courtyard in Key West.
